My thoughts on movement.

I believe There are really only three ways to do movement, but no matter what way, the npcs/mobs NEED to do the exact same movement as the player.

Options:
4-directional - This is what players have right now which makes its sometimes hard to move in the diagonal caverns.
8-directional - This is what I believe some npc's are using, which makes following them quite a challenge. Though this is probably the best in many ways. Would be best with 8-directional pad, or joystick.
Full - This would require joystick movement which may not be a bad idea.

Its seems like 8 or full would be best, but I think we need to just choose one and stick with it right now.

I also believe there should be a constant movement speed say 100 for natural (current run speed), and by "freezing" or other effects it can be modified. But having to double tap to move a little faster right now, is more of a hassle really.

*edit* And quest/trade npc's etc. should have a "fixed" position that they ALWAYS go back to after battle, so there aren't npc's farming mobs that are needed for quests.

I will STRONGLY disagree with tile based movement. Its really annoying to have to wait for your character to get to the next tile. Its a complete pain. If you don'y believe me, take a look at Forgotten Tales, a game also in development that I find very annoying movement wise. Then take a look at Realm of the Mad God. It has same movement as this game and has been VERY successful.

I agree with above. I want no part of a tile based movement system. I'm happy enough with what we have.
