It's a buildup of exp I would assume, as it has been the whole time. Your exp increases each time, as minuscule as it may be, but only shows spurts in intervals of two percent. For example, it may increase by 2% every time you kill, let's say, 6 monsters in a row. Not certain, but it seems that way
